FLG FARMS Stud Service Agreement
We here at FLG Farms agree to let our buck goats stand for stud service under certain circumstances. These include:
No service memo issued (no registration of offspring): $50 per doe
If the owner of the doe decides after the breeding (and initial payment) they wish to register offspring, they may request a service memo and pay the difference in price (must be paid in full prior to the service memo being issued). There are circumstances that may prohibit registration (unlikely but could happen example would be a buck break-in). In this case, no service memo will be issued, and breeding fees may be waived or refunded. This will be discussed between FLG Farms and owner of the doe in the unlikely event that issues such as these would compromise the accuracy of breeding.
That all our service bucks are registered with American Dairy Goat Association and/or American Goat Society.
We cannot guarantee size, color or sex of any offspring, but will honestly reveal any issues that may have arisen in the production from that buck's line, ie. oversize, spur teats, etc. Because ADGA is now finding a lot of DNA issues with herds we may have purchased our goats from, we wish to caution buyers that any Nigerian Goat purchased from ANY farm that hasn’t been DNA verified do not have a 100% guarantee that the lineage is as advertised. While we have made efforts to verify our breedings, correctly complete registration paperwork, etc., we make no guarantees that our animals’ ancestries will be exempt from scrutiny, question, or even exemption. We are currently in the process of DNA verification but that process is taking some time.
It is our hope that providing Stud Service from FLG Farms will build a stronger Nigerian Dwarf community and breed. We aspire to be good stewards of the species and the breed, and to assist anyone involved in the breed anyway possible.

FLG FARMS Stud Service Agreement
We here at FLG Farms agree to let our buck goats stand for stud service under certain circumstances. These include:
- That all does come from healthy herds, and are free of visible disease (no abscesses whatsoever, no wounds, normal temperature, no diarrhea, FAMACHA score 3 or higher)
- That all does that come to FLG Farms for breeding much have proof of testing for CAE and Johnes - testing must have been conducted within 6 months of breeding date.
- If does are from a farm outside of North Carolina, does must also be tested and proven to be negative of Johne’s Disease (fecal), CAE, Tuberculosis, and Brucellosis within 6 months of breeding date. To cross state lines, does are legally required to have a vet check and health verification.
- Breeder and doe owner shall discuss terms of stud/doe breeding arrangements which can include “driveway breeding” or a board and breed arrangement. Boarding a doe may increase the stud fee charged. If the doe(s) remains at FLG Farms beyond one week, the boarding charge of $10 per doe per week will be assessed. This covers feed, hay, care, and general upkeep.
- The appropriate stud fee is paid prior to the breeding. Stud fee amounts will vary based upon the age, lineage and winning record or championship status of the buck, or his offspring, length of stay in breeding pen, etc. Base stud rates for 2023 are as follows:
No service memo issued (no registration of offspring): $50 per doe
If the owner of the doe decides after the breeding (and initial payment) they wish to register offspring, they may request a service memo and pay the difference in price (must be paid in full prior to the service memo being issued). There are circumstances that may prohibit registration (unlikely but could happen example would be a buck break-in). In this case, no service memo will be issued, and breeding fees may be waived or refunded. This will be discussed between FLG Farms and owner of the doe in the unlikely event that issues such as these would compromise the accuracy of breeding.
- Should the doe become sick while in the care of FLG Farms, the owner of the doe will cover all veterinarian expenses incurred.
- FLG Farms will consult with owner of doe prior to services rendered.
- If owners cannot be reached during any emergency, FLG Farms will permit any and all veterinarian services to stabilize health of doe at the owner of the doe’s expense.
- Should a doe expire while in the custody of FLG Farms, FLG Farms will not be held responsible unless malicious neglect or negligence is found to be evident as the sole cause of the doe’s death. If a necropsy is requested, it will be done so as a doe’s owner’s expense.
- Any additional fees incurred during the breeding stay of a doe will be paid in full (cash or credit card) prior to the doe being released to her owner.
- Any doe left beyond the terms of the “stay and breed” agreement without reconsideration of the terms of the agreement for more than 60 days, may be considered abandoned and surrendered and will become the property of FLG Farms.
- In order to promote improvement within the breeding of Nigerians, we reserve the right, in some cases, to provide "doe only service memos”. This will be a discussion made with the doe’s owner on assessment of the doe (traits appraised as “brood stock”) PRIOR to the signing of this agreement.
That all our service bucks are registered with American Dairy Goat Association and/or American Goat Society.
- That all of our Senior bucks have undergone and passed a CAE test, and that all the dams of our Junior Bucks have undergone and passed a CAE test.
- That all bucks used for stud service are healthy and free from genetic faults, such as spur teats, multiple orifices or other major disqualification.
- That repeat breedings will be available in the case of a doe that has not "settled," following previous attempts at breedings, up to the point of 6 months after the doe’s original estimated breeding date. Other bucks may be substituted as needed. In repeat breedings, a stud fee will not be required although boarding fees may be charged if doe remains on FLG Farms property for more than one week ($10 per doe per week).
- There are no refunds on breeding fees, even if a doe has not settled.
- If a doe hasn’t settled even after repeated breeding attempts, we highly recommend the doe's owners to certify that she is able to conceive. Tools to do so may include observations of heat patterns, lutelyse, blood work, or other diagnostic tools available to the veterinarian.
